The Maybe's

  • Try to feed your rat a small helping of your food every week. They enjoy hot dogs and LOVE leftovers.
  •  Take them to the vet maybe once every 3 months. It's not necessary,  but you should anyway.
  •  In the summer maybe try some fun ideas from Rat Crafts to keep your rats cool and happy.
  •  Also, Try some of the winter ideas to keep your pets warm.
  •  Try taking your rats on a walk. You can buy a leash at a pet store. Be carefull my rats knew how to get out of the leash and therefore I could not take them on walks. If your rat does the same dont be discouraged! You can try getting a little travling cage-bag for them. If your rats trust you enough you can maybe get them to sit on your shoulders for a while.
  •  Try taking your rat outside. But give them something to hide under so they don't become anythings next meal. Don't leave them unatteded outside. Always watch them.
  • Teach your rats tricks. They are excellent jumpers, tightropers, climbers, and are smart and learn quickly. Reward them positively and they will be a master in no time! If you want some trick ideas go to Rat Crafts. If your having problems training your rat or just having problems in general ask me in my blog, Rat Stories
  • If you know where one is and your rat qualifies try entering them in a rat show!! Who knows you might just win! Check out: http://www.miceandrats.com/standrat.htm for qualification rules.
  • You can potty train your rats if need be. All you do is get a container with litter in it, Then when ever they leave a present put it in the litter. eventually they get the point. If your rat doesn't get it thats ok. Mine didn't get it either.
  • When feeding your pet peanut butter or other sticky, thick foods, feed with cation as they can choke on it.
